4PX or YunExpress? How We Actually Choose Your Shipping Route

 ·  ⏱ 3 min read
Match the order, not a favourite. The order determines the service.

We get asked which carrier is "better," 4PX or YunExpress. Wrong question. Neither one is better across the board. They're built a bit differently, and the right answer depends on your product, destination, and what you actually need from the shipment.

Shipping route decision based on product eligibility.

The real difference between them

YunExpress is strongly built around cross-border B2C parcel shipping, small and medium parcels moving direct from China to the end customer, with dedicated lines for categories like apparel and cosmetics.

4PX covers more of the chain. Beyond direct parcel shipping, it also runs China consolidation warehouses, overseas fulfilment warehouses, and marketplace replenishment (Amazon FBA, for example), plus returns handling on some routes. If you might eventually want to pre-stock a winning product or need marketplace fulfilment support, 4PX's ecosystem has more built-in options for that. If you're purely doing direct-to-customer parcels, that breadth doesn't necessarily buy you anything extra.

Neither company should be taken at face value on delivery speed or reliability. Both publish a spread of delivery estimates depending on the exact product and route, and both have mixed public reviews, which is normal for any large carrier moving huge parcel volumes across hundreds of destinations. Route performance depends on the specific lane, the season, and the current last-mile partner, not the carrier's name alone.

What we actually check before choosing

Landed cost at the parcel's real packed dimensions, since dimensional weight rules differ by product and can swing the price a lot. How the specific route's been performing recently, not the marketing estimate. Whether the product needs a special line, documentation, or extra handling. Whether pre-stocking or marketplace fulfilment is realistically on the roadmap for this product. The last-mile carrier's track record for that destination right now. Customs predictability on that lane at this point in time.

Why we don't lock into one carrier

Performance isn't fixed. A lane that was fast and reliable in spring can get congested in peak season. A carrier that's strong to one country can be mediocre to the country next door. If we only ever used one carrier, you'd inherit its weak spots on every route, not just its strong ones.

What this means for you

You shouldn't need to know or care whether your order goes out through 4PX, YunExpress, or something else depending on the product. We compare what's actually available against your specific product, destination, and delivery target, and quote the option that makes sense, not whichever carrier we happen to prefer that week.

If you're currently locked into a single carrier through another fulfilment provider and a specific route's been underperforming, that's a common reason people move to us. send us a message on WhatsApp a product and destination and we'll tell you honestly what we'd route it through and why.

A route-choice brief you can actually send

Before asking for a carrier recommendation, give the person quoting your order the inputs that change the answer. A carrier name alone is not enough.

  • Exact product: include materials, battery details, liquid content, magnets, variants and any restricted-goods detail.
  • Final destination: country, postal code where available, and whether the address is remote or a PO box.
  • Packed dimensions and weight: ask for the expected packed measurement, not only the supplier's product weight.
  • Customer promise: state the delivery window already shown in your store and whether tracking speed matters.

Useful rule: choose the service that can meet the product and customer promise with a sensible margin—not the one with the most familiar name.
