Building Out a Warehouse, One Batch at a Time

A new store started working with us today — early days, first invoices going through, nothing dramatic yet, just the normal rhythm of getting a fresh account set up properly so nothing gets missed once volume ramps up. I always like these first few days with a new account because you're setting the tone for how smooth (or not) the relationship is going to be.

The bigger story today was watching an existing private-label client commit to scaling up properly. They'd been building a small electronics product with custom manuals and branded packaging, and today they paid to stock a proper batch into our European warehouse rather than shipping piecemeal from China every time an order came in. That's always a nice moment — someone moving from "let''s see if this works" to "let's build real infrastructure around this." We spent the day working out exact unit counts and color splits so nothing got over or under-ordered.

On the standard dropshipping side, one of our electronics clients pushed hard on volume pricing today — pointed out they've got 500+ open orders in the pipeline and wanted the bulk discount threshold applied retroactively across that backlog rather than just on new purchases going forward. Fair ask, reasonable pushback, we had to go back to the factory and actually negotiate rather than just relaying the first answer. Got a modest win on price, which felt good to pass along.

Also spent a chunk of the afternoon on an unrelated but fun tangent — a longtime client asked if we had contacts for barbershop and salon equipment, completely outside their usual product line. Always enjoy when people are exploring new ventures alongside the one we already work on together.
