The Onboarding Call I Give a Version of Every Week

Had one of those onboarding calls today that I've now basically memorized, but never gets old to give. New client, just getting into a pet products store, wanted to know what actually happens once they hand us their Shopify store. So I walked through it — we connect directly, orders get fulfilled and tracking gets uploaded automatically, we run quality checks before anything ships, and as they grow we can talk branding: stickers, custom packaging, eventually logo printing once volume justifies it. It's a fun call to give because you can watch someone go from "is this legit" to actually excited over about ten minutes.

Also had someone new ask us to source a beauty device — one of those multi-mode facial tools with the heat and suction settings. Always fun sourcing these because the spec sheets read like a small appliance catalog: ten light therapy modes, six heat levels, and so on. We found pricing for both the US and UK within the day, which felt good.

The nice quiet win of the day: a private-label client who ships custom caps had a batch discrepancy scare last week — thought they'd received fewer units than expected across two shipments. We went back and recounted everything, and it turned out both batches actually matched what they'd sent us to produce. Small thing, but there's something satisfying about being able to say "no, the math checks out" instead of having to apologize for a shortage. We also talked through adding individual barcodes per cap variant, which tells me this client is thinking seriously about scaling their inventory tracking, which is always a good sign.
