The Day I Had to Just Own It

A client running a growing number of stores let us have it today, and honestly, fair enough. He'd been waiting days on price quotes for one of his stores while juggling dozens of other orders across other shops, and from where he was sitting it looked like we'd just stopped responding. We had context — time zone gaps, suppliers finishing their day before we could confirm everything — but context isn't much comfort when your orders are sitting there aging. So instead of over-explaining, we just laid out clearly how we'd prioritize going forward: send us a message on WhatsApp your list each evening, we sort and quote first thing our morning. Simple, and it's on us to actually stick to it now.

The more interesting find of the day was on the electronics side. We'd been slowly noticing something odd across recent camera shipments — a small number of units looked slightly different from what we normally ship, different lens housing, buttons in a different spot. Turned out the factory had accidentally mixed two production runs together: our standard model and what's actually an upgraded version they'd started making. Once we confirmed it with them, they agreed to supply the newer version at the same price going forward, which is a genuinely good outcome from what started as a "wait, why do these look different" moment.

Also got a great question from a phone case brand we're producing for — a customer of theirs wanted an official conformity certificate to verify UV protection on the product. It's a small ask, but it's the kind of question that only comes up once a brand is far enough along to actually be worrying about real compliance paperwork, not just getting product out the door. Good sign for where that one's headed.
