Monday Roundup: New Faces, a Handbag Fire Drill, and a Certification Puzzle

Start with the facts, then resolve. Early triage keeps urgent work from becoming avoidable chaos.

Mondays are always a bit of a flood. We came back to the group chats to find a stack of new people who'd found us over the weekend, mostly through the Facebook groups, all wanting to know the same thing in different accents: can you actually get my product made and shipped without me losing my mind.

We picked up a handful of brand-new conversations. One was just starting out and wanted a bundle put together — a custom card, a little branded pull-reel, and a nice wooden box to put it all in — before they'd even made a single sale. Another was launching ad campaigns that same afternoon and needed a sticker logo slapped on stock product within hours, which, fair enough, is exactly the kind of fire we like putting out fast. A third came in wanting to blend a baby product with a customized pet tag line, still sketching out what the store would even look like. And one more was trying to sell a supplement-adjacent product and ran straight into the wall every dropshipper eventually hits in this niche — regulatory certification. They'd found a supplier on Taobao with the right paperwork, but matching that to something sellable on AliExpress with the same certs was its own scavenger hunt. Our answer was the boring-but-true one: sell first without it if you can, get the cert once orders are consistent, because burning cash on paperwork before you know if the product moves is how people quit this business in month two.

On the existing-client side, the day's main character was a handbag reseller, understandably rattled after a bad run with a previous supplier, who wanted photo and video proof of every color and size before anything shipped. Totally fair ask, and it turned into a genuinely useful new habit for that account. Less fun was an afternoon spent debating a jersey customization order where the client wanted a guaranteed few thousand units in stock for a launch that hadn't happened yet — a reminder that "guarantee me inventory before you've sold a single one" is a request we have to gently talk people out of, every single time.

Also spent a good chunk of the afternoon on a foam-filled product where the client kept asking us to check whether the filling looked "too bulgy in the centre" before it shipped — small thing, but it's the kind of nitpicky quality check that actually matters once you've got a few hundred of something going out the door. And one longtime client politely told us our shipping quote just wasn't competitive enough against a cheaper option they'd found elsewhere. We asked for a tracking number so we could actually compare apples to apples instead of guessing — sometimes "cheaper" quietly means "slower" or "no tracking," and it's worth checking before anyone jumps ship.

A normal Monday, honestly. Just a lot of them, all at once.
